Camino Francés with Thom & Luke – Sep 2023

Automobiles , Planes , Bus and a V.small Mountain train

4.00 am up – 6.00pm arrival but the journey is so varied it flys by.

Liverpool , Dublin , Biarritz, Bayonne Gare , to overnight in St Jean pied de port in the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Sat on floor in v excited, v crowded Mountain train … chatting to man who works at this restaurant near where we’re staying- he’s run through the Menu – we’re going 😆……..

Café de la Pays on his phone – local contacts- can’t beat ‘em

I started here in Sept 2017 – a journey I’ll never forget …. Always wanted to bring the children – but Uni’ and Pandemic got in the way .

…. Doing half the long way I did in 2017 – this time with Thom & Luke – they like the annual “WTF are we going Dad” trips 😆

They’ve proven to be capable , entertaining companions over the past years – on the West Highland Way , Hadrians Wall and the amazing vertiginous TMB – Tour du Mont Blanc which – apologies – through exhaustion and procrastination I didn’t write up on here . ( one day 👌😉)

So before we head for the Pilgrims office to get our Credencial stamped to prove we started here – I thought I’d actually restart the Camino Ramblings blog .

Looking forward to the Route Napoleon tomorrow.
