Tall Ships Camino Inglés – June 2024

Treliver to Lanlivery

Day 3 # TSCI24

Another beautiful day

As we wish Jenny at Treliver Farm B&B farewell and a successful summer – and head out . This place has been a real discovery and we’ll stay longer next time.

We enjoyed Jenny’s home cooking so much we need to hike today 😆

Our pace today is improving and we’re soon into the day and covering the miles . It’s the Royal Cornwall Show starting today so you might as well walk the back roads and tracks as it’s quicker than driving .

3 hours later – We find the ideal place for coffee and sugar rush in the form of a shared Treacle Tart & Clotted cream –

Fueled with this – Our pace picks right back up as we pass the half way across Cornwall mark at 1.00pm .

Getting another stamp for our Pilgrims Passports here – gives a good reason to see these country churches

Noticed this was a more amusing than normal road sign . Real villages but adding in important places as well .

Got to say – wouldn’t you love to have an address in the village of “Fenton Pist”😎

And so a couple of sunny hours walking and chatting later – missed a few turn offs but – Hey- Ho …we got here no probs – we arrive at our nights stopover at Lanlivery.

Next stamp and soak in the atmosphere

Handily the Church was positioned opposite the Crown Inn – our stop for the night and an oasis after a hot few afternoon hours.

Almost a cliché – so picturesque

Rooms fab and anyone who knows our history would appreciate the little inroom bookshelf 🥰🤣

Shower and straight to the bar where we meet Iain & Lisa – terrific people and a couple of lads who work the harbour in Fowey and know our tall ship is coming in on Saturday- it’s a big deal .

We get a visit from a family friend 🥰

And after a special experience in a super standard of pub restaurant – ( Baked Cornish Crab mmmm 👍❤️)

We are fortunate to be here on the D-Day 80th anniversary and share how one small village can make a difference as at 9.00pm there is a ceremony in the pub garden .

Short speeches and a reading from the personal diary of a D-Day tank commander from his niece – moving as the controlled fear and bravery was evident .

It means a lot to hear from people whose family were there 80 years ago.

A beacon is lit …….

And the last post sounds …..

As the pub and village falls silent

A proper effort and very moving

It’ll be a rare moment I’ll see this example traditional English Village life again .

See you tomorrow for last days hike before …….. eeek ….. the High Seas !

Night x

What a very poignant end of the walk yesterday. Lovely to have a visit from our ‘Vieux Oiseaux’ as well! xxx
